Tasco Gros - Medes Islands

Tasco Gros, on the Medes Islands, always brings a smile to our faces. It's not the deepest dive, but it’s just so… alive. We often start by dropping down onto the top of the reef, maybe 12-15 metres, and just letting the gentle surge rock us. The big draw here is the sheer density of fish. We’re talking schools of salema so thick they dim the light, and hake darting in and out of the crevices. Keep an eye out for the residents too. We’ve had some fantastic encounters with morays here, big ones, heads poking out, looking grumpy. The marbled electric rays are a real treat if you can spot them, usually half-buried in the sand patches. For something a bit different, we’ve even come across Rufus snake eels on this dive, which is always a neat surprise. It’s a site that rewards a slow pace, letting you really observe the drama unfolding amongst the sponges and corals. We’d suggest going early in the morning for the best light and fewest boats. This spot is perfect for divers who love to linger and really take in the Mediterranean’s bustling smaller life. You'll definitely see something new every time you dive it.
