Malön, off the Swedish Baltic coast, offers a different kind of wreck dive. It’s a shallow site, only 10 metres deep, making it approachable for most divers. This isn't a massive freighter, but the remains of a motor vessel, now well-integrated into the seabed. What you’ll find here is a skeletal structure, home to crabs scuttling amongst the ribs and the occasional flatfish camouflaged on the sand. It’s a quiet, reflective dive, more about the history and the subtle marine life reclaiming the wreck than dramatic scale. Visibility can swing, as it often does in the Baltic, so pick a calm day for the best view of Malön’s character.
