OSTERSJON
Why dive here
With 50+ marine species recorded in the area - including dwarf minke whales and jellyfish lake - OSTERSJON offers some of Baltic Coast's richest wreck diving. Water ranges 1-17°C, warmest July, August, September.
Ostersjon isn't about tropical fish or technicolor reefs. It’s a different kind of dive, and we absolutely love it for that. This old tug, resting upright at a shallow six meters, offers a genuinely atmospheric experience. Her stern is still largely intact, and you can swim through the bridge, which is always a highlight. The really interesting part is how life has claimed her – we've seen some surprisingly plump cod darting through the superstructure, and the whole wreck is draped in the distinctive red macroalgae that thrives in the Baltic. It’s a photographer’s dream on a clear day, with sunlight filtering through the masts and illuminating the cargo hold. Expect a cool water dive, but the visibility here can be surprisingly good, especially after a spell of calm weather. Our best tip? Go early to avoid any boat traffic, and take your time exploring the details. It’s a gentle dive, perfect for anyone keen on wreck exploration without the deep-water demands.
