SKUTSKAR - Baltic Coast

Skutskär isn't your typical wreck dive, sitting right on the surface near Kaijakari Island. It's the remains of a trawler that ran aground back in 1970, and while it never quite made it to the deep, it offers a fascinating look at how the Baltic reclaims things. You’ll find its exposed hull and superstructure, slowly breaking down, providing shelter for the usual Baltic suspects – plenty of small crustaceans, sometimes a curious perch or two darting in and out of the metalwork. It’s a site best suited for snorkelers or very shallow divers who appreciate the historical angle and the slow, quiet process of nature taking over.
