CHRISTIAN RUMP - West Coast (Gothenburg)

The Christian Rump wreck is a proper immersion into North Sea history, and one we always enjoy for its sheer size and the way the local marine life has taken over. This isn't just a pile of metal; she's a trawler that went down in 1968, sitting upright and mostly intact on a silty bottom at 55 metres. We love dropping down the line onto her bow, seeing the huge winch still in place, encrusted with dead man's fingers and anemones. The bridge section is a highlight, surprisingly accessible, with schooling pollock often hanging in the shadows, darting in and out of the wheelhouse. We'd suggest carrying a good torch, not just for penetration, but to really pick out the details – stray fishing gear, the occasional crab scuttling across the deck. Due to the depth and potential for currents, this one’s definitely for experienced cold-water divers. On a good day, with decent visibility, it’s a truly atmospheric dive, a quiet testament to the perils of the sea.
