DORTHE - West Coast (Gothenburg)

Dorthe, off Sweden's west coast, is our kind of wreck dive. It’s a 1920s cutter, and while it might not be the biggest wreck out there, the way it’s settled and aged makes it truly special. We love how Dorthe lies mostly intact on the seabed, listing slightly to starboard, giving it a real sense of character. You can still make out the mast and parts of the rigging, which is always a treat for wreck enthusiasts. We’d suggest you take your time exploring the deckhouse, imagining the crew on deck in rough seas. The fish here are incredibly comfortable around divers; we’ve had blennies darting out from every crevice and occasionally spotted a curious cod peering from a dark corner. Visibility can be a bit variable, but on a good day, with sunlight filtering down, the sight of the wreck materialising from the green depths is quite something. It's a dive that rewards slow exploration and a keen eye, perfect for those who appreciate history and the slow creep of marine life reclaiming what was once human-made. Aim for a slack tide; the currents here can be a bit of a nuisance otherwise.
