ESTER - West Coast (Gothenburg)
The Ester, a fishing vessel that went down in 1952, sits upright in the shallows just off Gothenburg's West Coast. At a mere four metres, it's a perfect spot for newer divers, or anyone looking for a relaxed second dive. We found the wheelhouse largely intact, and you can easily peek into the cargo hold, now home to clouds of small blennies and the occasional inquisitive crab. Visibility here can vary, so we'd suggest picking a calm day, but when it's good, the light plays beautifully through the superstructure, illuminating the soft growth clinging to the old deck fittings. It’s not a grand wreck, but it’s a charming piece of local history, easily accessible and surprisingly full of small details.
