FALKEN - West Coast (Gothenburg)
The Falken wreck isn't just another sunken boat off Gothenburg, it’s a proper dive into history. We love how intact she is, still sitting upright on the seabed at 32 metres, exactly as she landed after sinking in 1952. Dropping down, you start to make out the shape of her mast first, then the distinct outline of a classic fishing vessel emerges from the murk. The wheelhouse is still largely there, and you can swim through the holds, imagining the last catch she carried. Our favourite part is the engine room – a compact space that feels surprisingly accessible, with gauges and machinery still visible, encased in a layer of growth. While we haven't logged specific species here, the wreck acts like an artificial reef, always attracting a good number of local fish, especially cod and saithe, along with various crabs scuttling over the plates. This site really suits divers comfortable with colder water and decent buoyancy, who appreciate exploring a piece of maritime heritage rather than just colourful corals. Go on a calm day, and the visibility can be surprisingly good, letting you really appreciate her structure.
