GANLER - West Coast (Gothenburg)

The Ganler wreck, just outside Gothenburg, is a genuinely engaging dive, especially if you appreciate a good story with your rust. It's a fishing vessel, and while the data calls it 'non-dangerous', we find it perfectly captivating. She sits upright at 55 meters, which means it’s a site for experienced divers, comfortable with deeper profiles and potentially colder water. What we love about the Ganler is how intact she is; you can still make out the superstructure, the wheelhouse, even the outline of the fishing gear. The deck is home to plenty of wrasse and cod, darting in and out of the broken hatches. We’ve had dives there where the visibility has been phenomenal, a pale green light filtering down, illuminating the anemones clinging to the hull. Our tip? Go early in the morning on a calm day. The currents can pick up, and you want to be able to savour the quiet majesty of this working boat, now a silent monument beneath the waves. It’s a dive that really connects you to the maritime history of the region.
