GRATIA - West Coast (Gothenburg)

The Gratïa wreck, off Sweden’s West Coast, isn't just another sunken ship; it’s a properly atmospheric dive, especially if you’re into your history and a bit of a challenge. Dropping onto her at 37 metres, you immediately feel the chill of the North Sea, but it’s worth it. She’s a dangerous wreck, we’ll admit, but that just adds to the allure. We love how intact she is, still sitting upright on the seabed, almost as if she just decided to take a permanent nap down there. What really gets us about the Gratïa is the sheer amount of detail still visible. You can make out the fishing gear, the deck machinery, even the superstructure, all draped in a thick carpet of anemones and sponges. Schools of cod drift in and out of the wheelhouse, and you’ll often find large crabs scuttling across the deck. Our favourite time to dive her is late summer, when the visibility gets just good enough to appreciate the scale. She’s a dive for those with solid experience, comfortable with depth and colder water, but for wreck enthusiasts, she’s a standout.
