With 121+ marine species recorded in the area - including dolphins, dwarf minke whales, humpback whales, orcas and seals & sea lions - IDA offers some of West Coast (Gothenburg)'s richest wreck diving. Water ranges 3-18°C, warmest July, August, September.
The IDA, a motor vessel that sank back in 1958 after springing a leak, now rests at 30 meters off Sweden's West Coast. This wreck is a good pick for divers who appreciate the history behind a site. While there aren't specific species listed, we've found that these older wrecks in cooler waters often become artificial reefs, attracting cod, blennies, and sometimes even a curious seal. The IDA offers a chance to explore a piece of maritime history, the structure itself draped in various growth after decades on the seabed. It’s a site for those who enjoy a contemplative dive, exploring the shell of a vessel rather than chasing big pelagics.
