JANSON - West Coast (Gothenburg)

Janson is one of our favourite wreck dives on the Swedish west coast. This old fishing vessel sits upright at 33 metres, her masts still reaching towards the surface, creating an impressive silhouette against the green light. We love how intact she is, especially the wheelhouse, which you can peek into and still imagine the skipper at the helm. It’s a proper exploration dive, with plenty of entry points into the holds where huge shoals of cod and pollock often swirl around you. The structure itself is heavily encrusted with plumose anemones, creating a soft, colourful fuzz over the rusted metal. Look closely and you'll spot plenty of squat lobsters tucked into every crevice, along with the occasional wolf fish lurking in darker corners. We'd suggest diving Janson on a calm day; while the currents aren't usually fierce, the surface swim can be a bit of a haul if there’s a chop. It's a dive that rewards careful buoyancy and a good torch, perfect for experienced wreck enthusiasts who appreciate a bit of history beneath the waves.
