MIZPAH - West Coast (Gothenburg)

The Mizpah isn’t your typical Swedish wreck dive, and that’s why we love it. Sunk intentionally in 1958, this old minesweeper lies upright and proud in just five metres of water, making it perfect for an extended rummage or even a snorkel. We’ve spent hours here, tracing its deck fittings and peeking into the open holds. What really makes the Mizpah special is how accessible it is, even for newer divers getting their first taste of a proper wreck. You’ll find schools of juvenile pollack flitting through the superstructure and plenty of crabs scuttling amongst the plates. The light penetration is incredible, illuminating the bow and stern, allowing you to appreciate its lines. We’d suggest going on a calm, sunny day to really see the details pop, though even in murkier conditions, its distinct shape is easy to navigate. It’s a fantastic site for photographers practicing wide-angle wreck shots, and honestly, just a really pleasant way to spend an hour underwater, exploring a piece of history without the pressure of depth or strong currents.
