NORDPILEN - West Coast (Gothenburg)

The Nordpilen is our go-to wreck near Gothenburg, a fishing trawler that went down in 1944. She sits upright, pretty much intact, with a gentle list to starboard at 32 metres. You can really get a sense of her working life as you fin past the superstructure. We love dropping down to the stern first; the propeller is still there, impressive even after all these years. Inside, the hold is open, and it's dark, but with a good torch, you can really poke around. The wheelhouse is a tight squeeze but worth the effort if you're comfortable with overhead environments. What really makes the Nordpilen for us, though, is how much life has made a home here. Big cod lurk in the shadows, and we often see conger eels peeking out from pipes. Schools of pollock shimmer over the deck, sometimes so thick you have to fin through them. Visibility can be a bit hit or miss, so pick a calm day with minimal swell for the best experience. It's a proper wreck dive, perfect for advanced divers who appreciate a bit of history and don't mind the chill of the North Sea.
