The *Rygja* sits upright at 21 metres, a substantial wreck from its 108-metre length. Sunk by a mine in 1943 while under German control, this steamship is a compelling dive. We often find the bow and stern offer the most structural integrity, great for exploring the holds. Look out for the triple expansion engine, it’s still quite a sight. Visibility here can vary, but on a good day, the scale of the *Rygja* is really impressive. It’s a solid pick for divers comfortable with colder water and decent buoyancy control, offering a tangible piece of maritime history.
