VAAURNUS - West Coast (Gothenburg)

Vaaurnus is one of those west coast wrecks that really sticks with you, a genuinely dangerous wreck if you don't treat her with respect. She rests at 28 meters, pretty much upright, and while the visibility can be typical Swedish green, it often has this moody, atmospheric quality that suits a wreck like this. We love the way the light filters through the superstructure on a sunny day, painting shifting patterns on the deck. She’s a decent size, and you can spend a whole dive exploring her nooks and crannies. Expect to see plenty of local fish, often cod or pollock, lurking in the shadows, along with spider crabs making their slow way across the hull. Our favourite part is the engine room, which is accessible for experienced wreck divers. Just remember, this isn’t a beginner’s wreck. Currents can be unpredictable, and the entanglement risk is real. Plan your dive, check your gas, and bring a good light. It’s a proper dive, and that’s why we rate it so highly.
