With 176+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue sharks, dolphins, dwarf minke whales, humpback whales and ocean sunfish (mola mola) - ARFON offers some of Cornwall & Devon's richest wreck diving. Water ranges 10-18°C, warmest July, August, September.
The Arfon, a trawler resting at 35 metres, is a solid wreck dive off the Cornish coast. We found her largely intact, upright on the seabed, which always makes for a more interesting exploration. You can swim through parts of the superstructure, where spider crabs often cluster in the dimmer light. Conger eels are a common sight, peering out from beneath plating, and plenty of plumose anemones have taken hold on the exposed metalwork. It's a good choice for divers comfortable with deeper wrecks and a bit of current, offering a decent delve into maritime history without being overly challenging.
