    StandoutExceptional marine biodiversity

The BOB, a steamship sunk by a German submarine in 1917, rests off Start Point at a considerable depth, reaching 60 metres. It’s a site for experienced wreck divers comfortable with deeper profiles and the often-cooler UK waters. What we find here is a solid wreck, well-colonised with anemones and dead man's fingers, giving it a real sense of history. You can still make out the ship’s structure, with the occasional lobster peering from a crevice. It’s a rewarding dive for those who appreciate the quiet history of a wartime loss.

Maximum depth 60m exceeds recreational limits (40m). Technical diving certification and equipment required.

Wreck site - avoid penetration without wreck diving certification. Watch for sharp metal and entanglement hazards.

Always perform a 3-minute safety stop at 5m before surfacing.
