BREAKAWAY OF YARE - Cornwall & Devon
The Breakaway of Yare, a fishing vessel that met its end in 1973 following a fire, now rests on the seabed at 55 metres. It’s a dive for those comfortable with deeper wrecks and the cool, often dim conditions of the English Channel. What remains of the wooden hull is still identifiable, though time and current have taken their toll. You’ll find squat lobsters tucked into any crevice, and plumose anemones blooming like white flowers across the darker timbers. It’s less about penetration here and more about appreciating the solemn quiet of a working boat's final resting place, a favourite spot for conger eels to lurk.
