CENTURION - Cornwall & Devon

The Centurion, lying at 59 metres, is a proper technical dive and one of our favourites in Cornish waters for good reason. This isn't your average recreational wreck; it’s a substantial, intact vessel that demands respect for its depth but rewards you with a genuinely atmospheric dive. When you drop down, the visibility often clears, revealing the ship’s structure emerging from the gloom. You can make out the deck, the holds, and the bridge area surprisingly well, considering the depth and the years it's spent down there. What we love about the Centurion is its sense of history, a vessel sunk by gunfire, now a quiet home to the ocean. Thick growths of plumose anemones smother the metalwork, their white tentacles reaching out into the current. We’ve seen conger eels coiled in the darker corners and some impressively large pollack hanging around the superstructure. It's a site that rewards multiple visits; each dive reveals another detail, another resident. We'd suggest saving this one for calmer seas and aiming for a slack tide window to really enjoy your bottom time.
