CLAN CAMERON (POSSIBLY) - Cornwall & Devon

The Clan Cameron, or what we strongly suspect is the Clan Cameron, is a deep-water wreck off the Cornish coast, a proper dive for those who appreciate history and a bit of a challenge. Dropping onto the deck at 60 metres, you're immediately struck by the sheer scale of this steamer, a victim of a German torpedo in 1917. The visibility here can be surprisingly good, letting the light filter down through the water, illuminating the ghostly superstructure and the impressive steam engines. We love exploring the holds, now home to conger eels that peer out from every dark corner, and the occasional anglerfish, perfectly camouflaged against the encrusted steel. This isn't a dive for the faint-hearted, but for experienced technical divers seeking a meaningful encounter with a piece of wartime history, it’s an absolute standout. Our tip: aim for slack water on a neap tide for the calmest conditions; it makes the descent much more enjoyable.
