The Denise Gabriel is one of those wrecks that just delivers, even on a day when the visibility isn't playing ball. We love it because it’s so intact, sitting upright with much of its superstructure still there, giving you plenty to poke around in. Drop down onto the deck and you’re immediately enveloped by the shoals of pollock and bib, darting through the wheelhouse windows like they own the place – which, of course, they do. We’d suggest exploring the stern first, where the propeller still sits proud, then working your way forward past the mast and cargo holds. Keep an eye out for conger eels tucked into every nook and cranny; they're usually pretty tolerant of divers, letting you get a good look before slowly retreating. It’s a site that always feels a bit moody and atmospheric, especially with the ambient light filtering through the green water. While the currents can pick up, usually it’s a fairly gentle drift, making it a solid pick for divers looking for a proper wreck dive without too much fuss.
