Why dive here
With 176+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue sharks, dolphins, dwarf minke whales, humpback whales and ocean sunfish (mola mola) - Dorothea Quarry offers some of Cornwall & Devon's richest diving. Water ranges 10-18°C, warmest July, August, September.
Dorothea Quarry offers a freshwater dive in a former slate quarry. We’ve found several submerged structures, like old vehicles and machinery, which make for interesting navigation. It’s a good spot for training or if you’re looking to get your dive fix when the sea conditions aren't playing ball. Visibility can vary, but it’s generally calm.
