EVASION - Cornwall & Devon

Evasion. Just the name hints at a story, and this wreck delivers. Lying off Guernsey, she’s a proper ship, not just a pile of scattered timbers. Dropping onto her decks at 32m, you immediately feel the history; the old sailing vessel went down in the 30s and has settled gracefully onto the seabed. We love the way she’s mostly intact, offering plenty of nooks and crannies to explore. It's a deep dive, so bring your A-game and watch your no-deco time. This isn’t a coral garden, but the marine life here is brilliant – huge conger eels peer from every dark opening, often with their heads the size of your thigh. We’ve seen respectable lobsters tucked away, and the hull itself is a tapestry of jewel anemones and dead man’s fingers, glowing under your torch. Penetration is possible for experienced divers with the right training, but even just finning around her superstructure is rewarding. Visibility can vary, as it always does in these waters, but on a good day, the Evasion feels like stepping back in time. She’s our pick for a classic Channel Island wreck dive, hands down.
