EVERTSEN - Cornwall & Devon

The Evertsen sits deep, a proper technical dive at 48 metres, but she’s a wreck we love for her structure and the way the local life has claimed her. This isn't a site for casual pottering, but for those with the training, it's a rewarding dive. We found her to be largely intact, lying on her port side, which means the starboard railings and superstructure are still pointing out, giving a real sense of her original form. Dropping down, the visibility in this part of the Channel can be hit or miss, so we always suggest a slack water dive to make the most of it – if you hit it right, the light filtering down can be quite ethereal. You'll find the hold open, often with a resident conger eel or two peering out from the gloom. The plating is draped in dead man's fingers, orange and white, contrasting against the dark steel, and we’ve spotted plenty of jewel anemones adding their own sparkle. For wreck enthusiasts who appreciate a good, solid structure rather than just scattered debris, the Evertsen is a fantastic deep dive.
