GINETTE - Cornwall & Devon

The Ginette is a cheeky little trawler, sitting upright and mostly intact in around 60 metres. We love how she’s settled, almost proud, despite her journey to the seabed in 1994. Dropping down, you’ll first pick out her mast, often swarming with pollack. Visibility here can be a bit of a lottery, as it always is in UK waters, but on a good day, the outline of her wheelhouse and decks become remarkably clear. She’s a fantastic wreck for advanced divers looking for a deeper UK challenge without the massive scale of some of her Cornish neighbours. We'd suggest a scooter if you have one, just to make the most of your bottom time exploring her compact 14.8m length. You can nose into the wheelhouse, though be mindful of snagging, and the hold is often home to some impressively large conger eels. Keep an eye out for the colourful jewel anemones that have colonised her plates; they add a surprising splash of colour to the often muted tones of a deep wreck. It’s a proper expedition dive, but the rewards are there for those prepared for the journey.
