GIRLVINE (POSSIBLY) - Cornwall & Devon

The MV *Girlvine*, lost in 1957, sits upright at 29 metres, and for us, it's one of those dives that feels like a proper exploration. There's a certain thrill to dropping onto a wreck that isn't swamped with other divers, just the quiet hum of the sea. We love nosing around the superstructure, still largely intact, imagining the chaos of its final moments. The deck is where the action is, carpeted in plumose anemones that sway gently in the mild currents, their white tentacles almost glowing in your torch beam. Look closely, and you'll spot lobsters tucked into every crevice and conger eels peering from deeper recesses. Our favourite feature is probably the stern, where you can still make out the prop shaft, now a home for shoals of pouting darting in and out of the shadows. It’s a site for those who appreciate the history of a wreck as much as the life it now supports, a solid dive for competent divers comfortable at depth who enjoy a bit of peaceful discovery.
