The Giuseppina Accame is an absolute beast of a wreck, a huge sailing vessel that went down in 1892. We love a deep dive, and at 45 metres, this one certainly delivers on the adventure. You’re descending into real history here, a grand old lady that simply vanished on a voyage from Rio. The wreck itself is pretty broken up, but its sheer scale still impresses. Think massive timbers, scattered across the seabed, giving you a real sense of its former size. Visibility can be a proper Cornish lottery, but on a good day, the light filtering down to that depth creates an eerie, cathedral-like atmosphere. Our favourite thing is the way the cold water corals have started to claim the bigger sections of hull; you’ll see the delicate branches of pink and white, swaying gently in the current. Look closely for those little jewel anemones clinging to the dark metal. It’s a site for experienced divers, no question, comfortable with depth and maybe a bit of current, but the reward is a quiet, contemplative dive on a truly significant wreck. Just remember to check those tides; a slack water dive makes all the difference here.
