Grand Hustler - Cornwall & Devon

The Grand Hustler is a rare chance to dive a truly fresh wreck, sunk in 2023. It’s a 14.6m trawler, intentionally placed upright, sitting in just 1m of water. Yes, 1m. This means it’s strictly a snorkel or freedive site, but don't let that put you off. We love it because it’s rapidly becoming a living reef. Within months of sinking, schools of juvenile pollack were darting through the wheelhouse, and wrasse picked at new algae growth along the gunwales. Our favourite thing is how accessible it makes wreck diving. You can spend an hour leisurely exploring the deck, peering into the open holds where conger eels might soon take residence. The light penetration is incredible, illuminating every detail, from the fishing gear still visible to the barnacles already staking their claim. It’s perfect for underwater photographers wanting to capture the early stages of colonisation, or anyone who wants a relaxed dip in shallow, calm conditions. We'd suggest going on a sunny day with minimal chop for the best visibility. You’ll be amazed at how much activity is crammed into such a small, shallow space.
