HARLEQUEEN-K - Cornwall & Devon

We’re not going to lie, the Harlequeen-K is a shallow one, topping out at a mere 3 metres. But don’t let that fool you. This isn’t a leisurely snorkel; it’s a peek into history, a genuinely surprising dive for a calm day. The wreck, what's left of the Harlequeen-K, has been down since 1883, and it’s a testament to how the sea reclaims everything. You’ll find its scattered remains off Noirmont Point, mostly timbers and iron plating draped in various seaweeds. Our favourite part? The way crabs, velvet swimming crabs especially, scuttle between the broken ribs of the hull. Look closely, and you’ll spot blennies darting in and out of crevices. It’s less about a grand ship structure and more about the intricate, small-scale life that thrives in and around the scattered pieces. We’d suggest going at slack high tide for the best visibility, which can hit 5-8 metres on a good day. It’s a gentle dive, perfect for photographers keen on macro subjects or anyone who appreciates the quiet drama of a historical site returning to nature.
