HARVESTER - Cornwall & Devon

The Harvester, sitting upright at 24 metres, offers a genuinely moody dive. We’ve always been drawn to wrecks with a bit of a story, and this one, lost while under tow, has a ghostly charm to it. Dropping down, the hull emerges from the green gloom, often surrounded by schools of small pollack darting in and out of the shadows. The wheelhouse is a highlight, largely intact, and you can still make out the outline of where the instruments would have been. Giant plumose anemones flower on nearly every surface, their white plumes swaying gently in the subtle surge. Look closely in the nooks and crannies for squat lobsters and the occasional conger eel peeking out. It’s a site that really comes alive when the visibility pushes past 8-10 metres, which is often the case on a slack tide after a period of settled weather. We find it’s best for divers who appreciate the atmospheric beauty of a well-preserved wreck rather than those seeking colourful reefs. It’s an easy circumnavigation, but there's plenty to keep you peering inside for a good 30 minutes.
