HELMA - Cornwall & Devon
The Helma, a schooner sunk in 1943 off the coast of Cornwall, offers a dive into local history at a very accessible depth. Resting in just 10 metres of water, she’s a good choice for newer wreck divers or those looking for a relaxed exploration. You’ll find the wreck fairly broken up, but the ribs and keel are still distinct, creating plenty of nooks and crannies for crabs and lobsters. Look closely and you might spot a friendly blenny peering out. Visibility can be a typical Cornish mixed bag, but on a good day, it’s a tranquil dive, perfect for photographing the kelp swaying over the old timbers.
