Why dive here
With 176+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue sharks, dolphins, dwarf minke whales, humpback whales and ocean sunfish (mola mola) - HUGIN offers some of Cornwall & Devon's richest wreck diving. Water ranges 10-18°C, warmest July, August, September.
The Hugin, a steamship that sank back in 1918, lies at a comfortable 35 metres, making it a good target for divers with some experience in UK waters. We’ve always found it’s a site that rewards a bit of patience. The wreck itself is reasonably intact for its age, a decent size at nearly 80 metres long, with the boiler still a prominent feature to navigate around. You'll find the usual suspects here – plenty of conger eels tucked into the dark corners and big bib schooling around the structure. It’s a solid dive for those who appreciate a bit of history and don't mind the deeper, cooler water.
