LCG 15 - Cornwall & Devon

The LCG 15, sitting upright at 27m, is one of our favourite dives off the Cornish coast, especially if you’re into military history with a dose of local wildlife. This Landing Craft Gun, sunk in a storm back in 1943, feels like a submerged time capsule. We love finning along her deck, imagining the heavy weather she encountered, and tracing the outline of her original 4.7-inch gun, which is still quite clear. The wreck itself is a playground for light penetration, offering glimpses into her holds where conger eels have set up home, sometimes peering out from behind the rusting plating. You’ll often find dogfish resting on the sand nearby, and the deck beams are covered in anemones and dead man’s fingers, making for some surprisingly colourful shots against the grey steel. Visibility here can be a bit variable, as it often is in the Channel, so we’d suggest timing your dive for slack water to really appreciate the scale of this piece of history and avoid fighting any strong currents. It’s a dive that rewards careful exploration, perfect for divers with some wreck experience who appreciate a site with a real story.
