LCT 565 - Cornwall & Devon

The LCT 565 sits in the shallows just off the coast, a landing craft vessel that broke free from its tow back in '54. We love a good shallow wreck, and this one delivers, especially when the sun punches through the water. You're looking at a huge, exposed structure, easily explored even by those new to wreck diving. The sheer scale is what gets us; 57 metres long and 11.9 metres wide, it’s a proper industrial skeleton. What you'll experience here is the wreck as a vibrant, living reef. Think dense carpets of colourful jewel anemones clinging to the metalwork, their tiny tentacles swaying in the gentle surge. Ballan wrasse dart in and out of the plating, and if you look closely, you’ll spot blennies tucked into every crevice. We’d suggest going at high slack tide for the best visibility, which, on a good day, can stretch to 10 metres. It’s a great site for photographers, the light playing off the wreck offers some striking compositions. Just remember, it’s a genuine piece of history, so treat it with respect.
