LE SQUALE - Cornwall & Devon

Le Squale isn't about grand scale, it's about intimacy and the surprising resilience of a small wreck. She's a wooden fishing trawler, just shy of 16 metres, now resting upright at 30 metres. We love that she still feels like a boat, not just a pile of debris. You can poke around the wheelhouse, imagine the last moments before she went down, and then marvel at how quickly sea life reclaims things. Expect to find plenty of squat lobsters tucked into crevices, their tiny eyes peering out. Conger eels are often in residence, their heads poking from deeper recesses, and we've seen some impressive schools of bib swirling around the intact hull. Our favourite part is the way the light filters through the structure on a good day, illuminating the vibrant jewel anemones that have colonised every available surface. It's a proper British wreck dive, best suited for those comfortable with deeper depths and looking for a wreck to truly explore rather than just observe. Definitely one to do on a calm day; visibility can be temperamental, but when it’s good, Le Squale really shines.
