LEVEN (POSSIBLY) - Cornwall & Devon

The Leven, or what we think is the Leven, is a deep dive into history off the Cornish coast. This dredger went down in 1917, a victim of a mine during WWI, and she sits at a forgiving 11 metres. We love that you can genuinely explore the remains of a significant piece of maritime history here, not just a pile of scattered metal. When we’ve dived it, the structure still feels substantial, with sections of hull and machinery offering plenty of nooks to poke around. The deck plating has collapsed in parts, revealing the skeletal ribs of the ship, which are now completely encrusted with plumose anemones and dead man's fingers. Our favourite part is navigating the ghostly outlines of the holds, where conger eels often peek out from the gloom. It’s a dive that rewards slow exploration, perfect for those who appreciate wrecks with a story and don’t need high visibility to enjoy the atmosphere. Just be mindful of fishing line, it’s a working coast.
