MODAVIA - Cornwall & Devon

The Modavia is a proper deep dive, sitting at 51 metres, and it’s one of our favourite wreck dives off the Cornish coast. She was torpedoed in 1943, going down with a convoy, and now rests upright, mostly intact, with her bow pointing north. Dropping down onto that vast deck, you immediately feel the scale of her. We love exploring the bridge area, though it's silty, so keep your finning precise. Look for the massive boiler – it's often swarming with pollack and pouting, sometimes a conger eel or two peeking out from the darker recesses. Visibility can be a real mixed bag here; we've had days of 15 metres and days where it's barely five, so pick your weather window carefully. It’s a dive that demands experience and good gas planning, absolutely not for the casual diver. But for those ready for the depth, seeing a piece of wartime history so well preserved on the seabed is genuinely humbling. The Modavia truly shows you what a big, deep wreck dive in the UK is all about.
