MY DIANE - Cornwall & Devon

The MY DIANE isn't a dive you plan weeks in advance for, it's more of a spontaneous splash, a curiosity tick. This little fishing vessel capsized on the notorious Bideford Bar back in '76, broke up, and now sits in truly shallow water – 1 metre at most. Forget long boat rides; this is practically a shore entry, and we love it for its sheer accessibility, making it perfect for a quick dip or even a snorkel if you just want to get your face wet and spot some local critters. What you'll find here are the scattered remains of a small boat, low to the seafloor, draped in green algae and kelp, a home for countless crabs and small fish darting amongst the twisted metal. It’s less about penetration and more about hovering above, spotting flatfish camouflaged on the sand, or watching blennies peek out from underneath rusted plates. Our favourite time to visit is on a calm, sunny day at high tide; the light penetration is incredible, painting the wreck in shifting greens and blues, and the water feels just a touch warmer. It’s an easy, interesting way to spend an hour, particularly if you’re keen on macro life or just fancy exploring a piece of local maritime history without the commitment of a deep dive.
