NORMA (POSSIBLY) - Cornwall & Devon

The *Norma* wreck, potentially, is a true deep-water treat off the Devon coast. We’re talking 46 metres, so this isn't a casual Sunday splash. What we love about this site is its sheer scale and the way the wreck has settled, largely intact, on the seabed. You descend into that often-murky green, and as the shape coalesces, you start to make out the superstructure, the deck plates, and the holds. It’s got that classic upright steamship feel, with plenty of nooks for conger eels to lurk – a torch is essential down here to pick out the details. Visibility can be a gamble, as with most UK diving, but when it’s good, the light penetrating to this depth creates an ethereal glow. We always find ourselves drawn to the bow, where the anchor chains spill out, now completely encrusted with dead man's fingers and anemones. This site is a proper expedition dive, best suited for experienced cold-water divers comfortable with deeper profiles and the conditions that come with them. Bring your drysuit, your twinset, and a sense of adventure; the *Norma* delivers a genuine piece of maritime history.
