PARTRIDGE - Cornwall & Devon

The **Partridge**, a torpedoed merchant vessel, lies at a manageable 25m, making it a proper deep wreck without needing technical skills. We think this site is a standout because of its dramatic history and how the Cornish marine life has utterly reclaimed it. You'll see the remnants of a vessel that met a violent end, with jagged metal and scattered debris telling a story beneath the waves. Dropping down, the first thing you notice is the light filtering through the green water, illuminating the wreck's ghostly outline. It's a dark dive, as most UK wrecks are, but that's part of its charm. Keep an eye out for conger eels poking their heads from pipes and crevices; they're almost always present. Our favourite part is the way jewel anemones carpet the plates, their fluorescent colours popping against the gloom. There’s a certain stillness here, a sense of history settling on the seabed. We'd suggest aiming for a slack tide, if you can time it right, to fully appreciate the details without being pulled around. It’s a dive for those who love wrecks with a story, and aren't afraid of a bit of green water.
