POINTE DE BARFLEUR - Cornwall & Devon

Pointe de Barfleur is a proper dive, a deep wreck for those who know their way around an umbilical. This isn't a drift dive for spotting nudibranchs, this is for divers who appreciate the history beneath the waves. The Barfleur herself is a trawler, purposely sunk, and she sits upright at 57 metres, a ghostly silhouette on the seabed. We love how intact she is; her deck still offers plenty of scope for exploration, and though her mast is gone, the superstructure provides a real sense of her past life. The depth means a careful dive plan is crucial, but the rewards are there. Expect good visibility on a slack tide, though it can get murky quickly if the current picks up. We’ve seen conger eels that look like they own the place, tucked into every crevice, and big lobsters too. The deck is a riot of anemones, and you’ll often find dogfish resting on the sand nearby. It's a challenging dive, yes, but for technical divers looking for a piece of maritime history, the Pointe de Barfleur is one of our favourites in the Channel. Go prepared, and she'll deliver a memorable dive.
