With 176+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue sharks, dolphins, dwarf minke whales, humpback whales and ocean sunfish (mola mola) - PRIMA offers some of Cornwall & Devon's richest wreck diving. Water ranges 10-18°C, warmest July, August, September.
The Prima, a brigantine that went down quickly in 1856, offers a fascinating glimpse into maritime history off the Cornwall and Devon coast. What remains of her hull and superstructure lies on the seabed, now heavily encrusted and well-integrated into the reef. You'll often find conger eels tucked into shadowy nooks, and shoals of pollack drift above the broken timbers. It’s a site best suited for divers who appreciate historical wrecks, especially those interested in how nature reclaims and transforms sunken vessels over time. The exposed location means conditions can vary, so we always check the forecast for a calmer day.
