RUPEE - Cornwall & Devon
The Rupee, a steam trawler sunk by a German submarine in 1917, rests at 54 metres, making it a dive for experienced wreck enthusiasts. We’ve found her to be quite broken up, but the triple-expansion engine and boiler are still very much present, forming the most substantial parts of the wreck. Lobsters and conger eels have made themselves at home in the nooks and crannies, and we often spot decent-sized pollock schooling above the structure. It’s a somber dive, a tangible piece of history on the seabed, best suited for those comfortable with deeper wrecks and technical diving.
