With 176+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue sharks, dolphins, dwarf minke whales, humpback whales and ocean sunfish (mola mola) - SAINT BRANDAN offers some of Cornwall & Devon's richest wreck diving. Water ranges 10-18°C, warmest July, August, September.
Dropping onto the Saint Brandan, you’re hitting a piece of history. This old steamship, torpedoed in 1917, now rests upright on the seabed at 38 metres. Its structure is quite broken, but the stern and bow sections are still largely intact, offering interesting swim-throughs if you're comfortable with overhead environments. Expect to see plenty of pollack darting through the superstructure and conger eels making homes in the deeper, darker corners. It’s a dive for those with wreck experience, happy with deeper profiles and the often-moody conditions of the English Channel.
