With 176+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue sharks, dolphins, dwarf minke whales, humpback whales and ocean sunfish (mola mola) - SAINTE MARIE offers some of Cornwall & Devon's richest wreck diving. Water ranges 10-18°C, warmest July, August, September.
The wreck of the Sainte Marie lies at 50 metres, a deep dive off the coast of Cornwall for those with the right training. This isn't a site for beginners, but experienced divers will find a substantial sailing vessel, a victim of a collision with the 'Royal Star'. We've always found deep wrecks like this have a particular atmosphere, the light fading to blue as you descend. Expect to find parts of the structure colonised by anemones and hydroids, with various fish using the shelter. It’s a good one for those who appreciate the history and quiet solitude of a deeper wreck dive.
