Why dive here
With 176+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue sharks, dolphins, dwarf minke whales, humpback whales and ocean sunfish (mola mola) - SORAK offers some of Cornwall & Devon's richest wreck diving. Water ranges 10-18°C, warmest July, August, September.
The SORAK, a yacht that caught fire and sank in 1977, now rests at 22 metres off St Martins Point. We find her fairly intact for a vessel of her size and age, offering a good outline for exploration. Expect to see the usual suspects making a home here: lobsters tucked into any available crevice, spider crabs scuttling across the deck, and sometimes a dogfish or two cruising by. It’s a solid dive for those who enjoy wreck penetration on a smaller scale, or just want to spend some time spotting the local crustaceans. We’d suggest this one for divers comfortable with UK diving conditions and looking for a relaxed exploration.
