With 176+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue sharks, dolphins, dwarf minke whales, humpback whales and ocean sunfish (mola mola) - SS Galeka offers some of Cornwall & Devon's richest wreck diving. Water ranges 10-18°C, warmest July, August, September.
The SS Galeka, an old ocean liner from 1899, sits off the Cornish coast, offering a proper historical dive. It’s definitely a wreck dive for those who appreciate a bit of maritime history, not just fish. The bow section is particularly intact, still showing the lines of a grand old vessel, and penetration is possible for those with the right training and gear. We’ve found conger eels tucked into the darker crevices, and sometimes you'll spot lobsters scuttling around the old deck plating. It’s a good option when the weather is calm; strong currents can make it a challenging dive, so pick your day carefully.
