SS Galeka - Cornwall & Devon
The SS Galeka, an old ocean liner from 1899, sits off the Cornish coast, offering a proper historical dive. It’s definitely a wreck dive for those who appreciate a bit of maritime history, not just fish. The bow section is particularly intact, still showing the lines of a grand old vessel, and penetration is possible for those with the right training and gear. We’ve found conger eels tucked into the darker crevices, and sometimes you'll spot lobsters scuttling around the old deck plating. It’s a good option when the weather is calm; strong currents can make it a challenging dive, so pick your day carefully.
