SS Irma - Cornwall & Devon
Dropping onto the SS Irma, you're immediately struck by the scale of this wartime relic. This Norwegian merchant ship, sunk in 1944 under a cloud of controversy, lies in pieces, but enough remains to make for a compelling dive. We found the stern section particularly interesting, still holding a good deal of its shape and providing plenty of nooks for conger eels to lurk. Schools of bib and pollock often swirl around the superstructure, and the occasional dogfish might be spotted nosing through the debris. It’s a dive that rewards careful exploration, perfect for divers who appreciate a bit of history along with their marine life.
