Why dive here
With 176+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue sharks, dolphins, dwarf minke whales, humpback whales and ocean sunfish (mola mola) - STANLEY FORCE offers some of Cornwall & Devon's richest wreck diving. Water ranges 10-18°C, warmest July, August, September.
The Stanley Force, a steamship that went down in 1953, sits at around 30 metres off the coast of Cornwall. It's a proper wreck dive, with enough structure remaining to give you a good sense of its past life. We’ve found conger eels tucked into the darker crevices and plenty of wrasse darting through the broken plating. Visibility can be a bit hit or miss here, typical of the UK, but on a good day, the atmosphere is quite something. It's a solid choice for divers comfortable at depth who appreciate a bit of history beneath the waves.
